Missing Stars Concept Art Thread

Talk about whatever you want as long as it's (even vaguely) related to MS.

Exciting was my word for it.
Amusing would be mine ^_^
I would find this quite salivating, were I not so concerned about HOW we all ended up having some of Kosher inside us...

I know how we all ended up with some Kosher in us... The answer is easy, Kosher is Kosher. That is why we are all Koshered!

Is adorable. I know that's what you meant to say because that's exactly what the eel is. ADORABLE.

That look Lena is giving to Isolda, however, is not.

Don't worry, Waytfm, you're still perfect enough to not have messed anything up and be hated for it. 8-) Besides, look! Now it's fixed!

I'm involved in Con Amore, and Rosae Dormientes. In Con Amore, we're still trying to track down artists (which is an absolute bitch to do) and work out each character's specific route, so the slog of actual production hasn't really started yet. Rosae Dormientes is really floundering right now. The founder left all of a sudden a few months ago, which caused the then-devs to actually make another site. I don't think they've picked up the steam they had previously again. So they're not at full production either. So that's how I manage that. :P

Once both projects hit full production, it'll be tough, but I think I can manage it.

For those of you who don't know, Rosae Dormientes was previously known as ShinVN, which pissed off Worth by posting about the project during MS's open recruitment stage in the old forums, which was very rude. I was still looking to join a project though (this was before CA), so I checked it out for the hell of it, and applied. At about that time, their leader, GrimAngel, left the project without a word and there was about of month with no word from the devs. I ended up starting Con Amore in that time, and eventually ended up getting admitted with RD after they got a new site. So that's how I ended up in two projects. We'll see how it goes.

Oh yeah, I'm also involved in MS via nefarious mind puppets. So there's that as well.

Is the search urgent? Surely there are decent artists out there that haven't been taken by a project yet. Hell, I'd volunteer if I didn't have a problem with consistency.

Well, I wouldn't say it's urgent, per se, because we don't really have a time limit. It is, however, annoying as hell. I think I've mentioned this before, but I've sent out over 100 requests on dA. I have found exactly one artist through all that. Most people don't bother to respond back, and those that do respond either want commission or are too busy.

Finding an really good artist who is willing to volunteer large amounts of effort is hard to do. It's not just a matter of them not being involved in a project, but they also have to be willing to do a large amount of work for free. The fact that I'm not well established on deviantArt isn't helping that either.

However, now that Rima, the artist for CA, is going to be messaging people, I think we'll have better luck. She's a very good artist and well established on dA, so she should at least garner more interest than me.

Yeah, I remember DA. The community somehow manages to morph most artist into commission whores, you'll rarely meet anyone (good) on there ready and willing to put their effort into someone else's ideas for free. Your social status is based on your pageview count and favorites instead of your actual artistic quality. Shame that it's the best place to look for eastern-styled artists though.

Well, I don't think it's quite that bad. For the most part, pageview count and favorites do a fairly good job of singling out very good artists, although it's not perfect.

I can't really fault someone for wanting to get paid either. When they're putting in 7 hours for a drawing for someone else, I can understand wanting to get paid. This is magnified for work on a VN. It's a shit-ton of work for no pay, and I don't expect huge lines to form to get in on that. And when the person asking (me) has nothing on his dA page and isn't known anywhere, it becomes a shit-ton of work for no pay, without any promise of quality or even completion.

Working on a OELVN is, more than anything, a labor of love. It's not something you can expect everyone to be interested in at all, let alone enough dedicate obscene amounts of time to.

So, I just want to take a moment to grovel and beg for full-res versions of the new dev avatars. They are adorable and made of win.
