Well... just wait a couple months. Apparently the site master is deleting tropes for being "Too explicit" now.
Won't be too long before pages for VNs like Katawa Shoujo are gone because there's sex in them.
I died a little inside when they deleted the Breast-Trope Index.
Eyup. The Art of Bra Removal and Black Bra and Panties just went bye-bye within the last week.

Thank the site master for TVTropes going to Google for funding.

Hopefully this doesn't happen. Rewards for counterproductive behavior aren't cool.

OKAY!
I raised a bit of a stink on a thread for that, this is what I got:
Best Of (admin) wrote:We have no intention of cutting works that aren't porn. Well, as long as they comply with the other half of the Content Policy (which would be the thing about the sexualisation of minors). As long as it's clear that the work isn't primarily about explicit sex scenes it should be fine. We're not cutting anything just because it has a sex scene in it, as long as it is primarily something else.
So I suppose Missing Stars is all right
(someone should probably make a TVTropes page for it. And I have a feeling that "someone" will likely be me  )

Nope, but the page is locked from editing.

I was bored, so I decided to look on the TvTropes page for Katawa Shoujo three days ago. It mentioned the Missing Stars Project, and I thought it was interesting.

I found out about you dudes and Love Despite from the Katawa Shoujo page on TVTropes. KS still holds the honour of the only visual novel I've genuinely enjoyed, buuuuut...you guys and Love Despite seem like you'll finally be giving KS some good company in my library. Which is good, as good VNs are so difficult to find, sometimes.

Also, yeah, the TVTropes going to Google for revenue and axing all the explicit tropes is irritating, to say the least.

You might benefit by asking other fans for suggestions on relevant forums. The TVTropes forum has a Visual Novels: Recommendations thread that's open to all users. It's also okay to ask on the sub-Reddit r/visualnovelsuggest.

If you ask me, it's always been a challenge. It was interesting to be a young post-grad school fan in the early 2000s, and struggling to find anything available in English. There were so few that had a story or gameplay that sounded appealing, and so few that were even vaguely worksafe.

I also remember becoming frustrated with professional translations in 2005, and then trying some of the first completed fan translations and visual novels written in English. Freeware projects such as When I Rule the World haven't aged well, and there was never all that much substance to Love Hina Advance. However, they were entertaining at the time.

Found out about this and Love Despite from a Katawa Shoujo reddit thread. Eagerly awaiting demos of both projects!

I found out about this project in a very unlikely place - on tvtropes.org (which is kind of like a wiki - user generated content). There is an article there on Katawa Shoujo - http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/V ... tawaShoujo

Here in description we can read that "Also worth noting are Missing Stars and Love Despite (now shelved), Visual Novels set in a school for students with Physical/Mental Disorders being developed by fans of KS as Spiritual Successors."

At this point I'm not even sure what this visual novel is going to be about... only today I figured the girls are supposed to be... mentally disabled in one way or another?
The idea seems great. There is a possibility to screw up even the best of ideas, but I feel like this has the potential to be even better than Katawa Shoujo.

EDIT:
Ok, not as unlikely a place as I originally thought. Just 1 post above we have the same source mentioned... >_<
And again 3 posts above... And there is more...

Most people I've spoken to learned about Katawa Shoujo (and Missing Stars) from TVTropes. It's not too unusual

Also, welcome to the forums

Katawa Shoujo for me, as it was for many others, though In a roundabout way. KS started my venture into visual novels, anime and manga. I think I read about the human re ignition project on reddit and eventually ended up here after link surfing.

I initially find out about MS from TvTropes and learning it was a spiritual successor to KS, but paid it no heed until I learned that Kosher was a dev. Now I'm hoping for some hot girl-on-girl action.

It's too bad the main character is most definitely a dude. And Lena's straight, though she would mess around with another girl under the right circumstances...

I think this means that I'll end up doing Lena's route first. Am I correct in assuming that booze is involved?
Damn. Now, I'm thinking about mentally disabled girls getting drunk and having sex. What am I doing with my life?
