Just a question to the devs which leads into a bit of an open question, I suppose. As early as Raita's original picture, the disabilities were clear in every character. That's not to say it was a defining character trait except for Hanako, but it was clearly a choice on the part of the developers and writers to make it clear from the start what said disabilities were for each character. Of course, Missing Starts and mental health issues are a whole different beast, and I'm not sure if it would be for the better or for the worse to disclose the nature of each character's disabilities, either now or even close to the eventual release.
So, thoughts? Is this a deliberate move on your guys' parts? And what do you guys think about placing emphasis on the "disabilities" in the VN? Apologies if the post is a bit rambly, I've just gone back on my meds and I'm not too great at focusing :3

No, we've just forgotten to disclose the disorders.MintySocks wrote: Is this a deliberate move on your guys' parts?

Um...sorry. I suppose I mean to ask your thoughts on the emphasis on disabilities as character traits, and if they'd be kept under wraps until release? I should probably stop talking. Or typing. I'm a bit out of it. D:

Oh no, my sarcasm failed.
Yeah, we're deliberately keeping the disorders under wraps. That alone should allow you to speculate on our emphasis on disorders as character traits.

This. And there's more. All of the KS girls' disabilities were pretty obvious, there was no possible way for them to hide was what wrong with them. It's a little different in Missing Stars. Although it's not that hard to see if people have a mental disabilty, only the trained eye will guess exactly what's going on and not at first sight. Our main character might not even find out what the girls' disabilities are until he's pretty far into their route.Worthington wrote:Oh no, my sarcasm failed.

On top of that. When I was in a special school, students who openly talked about their mental disorders were rare. Most of them never talked about it until you asked them. And when you asked, the response was usually an obvious lie. So the setting really has a lot to do with it.
