Out of curiousity, could they do that to a fan-VN that was made non-profit? With disclaimer's of not owning any part of Microsoft property and it being a "fan" thing? Perhaps different characters from actually copy-righted Microsoft representative characters?

Yes. They did it to a Halo fan-made RTS mod that was going to be made available for free. It had been in production for a couple years and most of the in-game art was done when Microsoft sent a C+D to them. A couple years later, microsoft released Halo Wars.

Solution: Don't tell Microsoft. I doubt they keep tabs on VNs otherwise. Or just obscure the fact that they're based on Windows things. :P

Plus, they kind of officially endorsed one of them... :lol:

If I were to write a VN it would be about some pink haired lady, whose real identity is hidden and it would be about saving Americans from a green haired lady and getting a Lithuanian into the white house.
