Voice Acting?

Voicing Missing Stars isn't a bad idea, but I would prefer it to be not voiced than to be voiced shitty, and let's face the truth - how much decently dubbed animes have you watched and eroges played? Myself - none. I can't even think about watching dubbed animes now, horrific.

There are a few - Cromartie High and Cowboy bebop for instance - but they are rare. Hilariously bad seems to be the norm. It's a good thing they're optional in eroges.

Black Lagoon is probably better in Eng dub.

Reason: original Jap language dub assumes that characters speak Eng even when they are dubbed in Jap. The English speaking (Jap dubbed) characters visit Japan and meet Japanese speaking people (also dubbed in Jap). Guess if you can make ANYTHING out of those episodes with two people, both dubbed as speaking Jap, are supposed to have a language barrier and are supposed to only understand each other through an interpreter? It's a friggin' mess!

Because of this, Black Lagoon => go for English dub instead.

And to the topic of dubbed MS, I'd prefer without. Voices take a lot of hard drive space and bloat the size of distributable self-extractor. I'd like it to be lean and clean. If you don't have animated scenes, don't have voices either. It'd just be ridiculous. (I do support voice acting for animated cut-scenes, though. It wouldn't bloat the file size my at all, considering cut-scenes have a soundtrack anyway. But I hardly consider cut-scene voicing necessary...)

Of course there's also the delays caused by recording and adding the voices... while I'm not one to hurry you up and urge you to finish the project in a rush, I don't really support adding a huge additional, and unneeded workload on top of the already big workload. And I would probably play it with voice disabled because I've never played a VN that had voice acting. It would probably only distract me. (Plus, they might sound very amateurish.)

You really are clueless arn't you. Don't assume everybody is the same, everybody is unique in their own way. Besides it usually only the popular kids that go at it like rabbits. Also sex between two virgins is more emotional and I believe that it makes a bigger emotional impact. I'm not saying all the characters should be, but it would make more sense. Although I'm speaking from experience and don't really know the culture or modesty of european girls.

Yeah I understand where you're coming from and I myself am reconsidering voice acting at all, despite how rude it is to make an offer then changing my mind. Granted file size isn't an issue to me at all, but I can see why somebody would be upset because of the amount of text.

As for delay due to voices sounds like a minor problem to me. As the voices don't really add much unless they were amazing, they're not really all that important. Missing Stars could very well be released without them, and then Somnova could simply release an update or addon at a later date.

I was exaggerating for comic effect, you realize. Anyway, I'm well aware of the sexual patterns of teenagers, seeing as I myself am a teenager (and the number of persons with their V-card intact after 19 is a small number). What I'm poking fun at is the deliberate glorification of virginal women (and yes, it is women) in this subculture; rationalize it as you may, but the majority of otaku/weaboo's have a disconcerting hard-on for "pure" women (an obvious example of the double standard for promiscuity between men and women). Also, saying that sex between two virgins is more emotional is just completely inaccurate (the most "emotional" sex of my life has been after I lost my virginity), not to mention grammatically incorrect (more emotional than what?).

Amateur voice acting tends to be....less than stellar. Due to a variety of factors (general lack of experience, how expensive good recording equipment is, etc.)

Even with professional level equipment and actors, it's still pretty horrible. At least, it is for any anime ever dubbed in english, in my opinion. I'd imagine VN's don't make any substantial improvements in that area.

There are no plans for voice acting in Missing Stars. It's a lot of effort to accomplish something of questionable worth.
