How did it all begin?

This might already be answered in a thread or two and if so I'll delete this one, but I'd like to know more about how this project got started. Some questions i'm really interested in:

What kind of team of writers and artists are working on this visual novel?

How did you all got together to work on this project?

How are you proceeding from here (I can see from the character introductions that progress is being made, but i'd like to know more)

I know a bunch of devs came over from the KS forums, and quite a few artists came from Deviant art. I'm not entirely sure about everyone though.

The artists and writers are all superb at their jobs. The artists I've seen from the recruitment threads are amazing. It really makes me jealous, since I have absolutely no artistic ability. The writers are no less amazing. Each and everyone of them are capable of putting together really nice stories. I know Honeymuffin's heroine in particular is really good.

That's really about all that I can say, I'm sure a dev will be able to give more thorough answers.

*clears throat* Many moons ago, when the world was still bathed in the climatic afterglow of the miracle that was Katawa Shoujo, a perilous and ambitious undertaking was undertook. Initiated by the world's greatest bee-product based sweet bread, Mentaru Shoujo intended to take the concept of disabilities further than anyone thought possible... Over the course of the Epic Saga, the rag tag bunch of plucky young developers would have to deal with many grave dangers: tragic schisms formed over clip-on ties, music-based spies, the rage of 4chan and the rest of the internet, and numerous raids by zombified fox news reporters with chainsaws from the future. (that part hasn't happened yet, but it will. Lock your doors.) Could this team possibly overcome the seemingly insurmountable odds and create a finished masterpiece? Tune in later to find out!

Waytfm is more or less right. The concept of MS started on the KS boards, and that's where most of the dev found out about it. Most of the artists were invited to join the team by Imperial Standard on Deviantart.
