#Musicology presents: Musical Showcase

Greetings from #musicology!

We at #musicology on the IRC understand that not everyone uses such a mode of communication so I have decided to extend our dextrous tentacles of influence to the forums as well.

Due to the relative success of the IRC chatroom, we would like to extend the same invitation we have taken to the forumites, that is, to seek to create beautiful music. We hereby open and offer this thread as a place you may exhibit your works and/or show your appreciation for the harmonious ventures of your peers. Whether you post here to simply show off or to gain experience and critique, we hope that this thread can become an additional vestige of musical experimentation!
Fellow musicbros, show us what you got!

We're an open-minded bunch here... or at least I am (assuming I qualify as a bunch), I can't speak for anyone else's tastes.

Personally, I like your stuff. Very atmospheric, quite dark, reminiscent at points of Nujabes (just a tiny bit, Space Cowboy for example)
I could definitely chill to this, maybe read to it. Could even make good abstract VN music.
<alabaster> I don't like it that big.

Haha, like Nujabes? Let's slow down a bit here, you don't want to get my head all inflated with hot air. XD

Thank you, though. I much appreciate the compliments.

oh, protip, if you decide to go exploring don't listen to anything older than "Beet Tape" it's all horrible before that.

I'm listening to it now. It makes me think of a mix of Ed Harrison with a darker, edgier, grittier, but more abstract ambient sound. You might check out some of his work and see where it takes you.

That...is honestly like nothing I've ever heard in my life, or ever listened to. It's...trippy. Is this psychadelic? I'm honestly curious about stuff I've never heard before, and this DEFINITELY qualifies.

Well, I do appreciate the compliments but I'm not really breaking new ground there. I'd recommend DJ Krush and if you can find anything by him (especially Planet of the Birds) DJ Frane. Big influences on me, and much better than I am.

Also Ravenous I have not heard of Ed Harrison, but I will look into him.

Indeed, we do enjoy it. I do, at least (mostly the twistier, jarring bits). For those who aren't aware, I and my works can be found here. Not much motivation to upload many of my compositions until I can purchase an audio interface for my computer (which would make them sound much, much nicer), though as for my newer ones, they can likely be found here, if for no other reason than so I do not accidentally delete them.

This is an interesting thread idea.

I went through my soundcloud and picked a few of my favorites or notable WIPs and fixed them up a little bit. As I haven't posted any music here yet, I figured I might as well.
A work in progress I started working on a couple nights ago after an extended musical drought.
Another piece for piano named Distance.
Yet another piano piece named Her Smile. GirlScout named it with all his girlfriend musings.

Woah, nice! It's like a cross between Yume Nikki and Flying Lotus that's under the influence of some stuff (haha).
I like it.
