Re: Manga anyone?
now time for something a bit more kinky.
Nozokiana (Nozoki Ana)
This one I have no clue if this is on sale in your countries, but in mine, it is.
[NSFW]
NozokiAna is the story of a student named Tatsuhiko Kido living in a new appartment.
one night he sees light coming from a hole in the wall and take a look just to be spotted by his neighbor on the other side.
as he come in the neighbor's appartment, the later reveals itself as a girl named Emiru Ikuno who blackmail Kido into playing a little game.
"Why don't we spy each other?"
This manga is in the erotic genre.
I bought it during the French Comic Con/Japan Expo, The serie is getting an adaptation into anime.
The author is Wakoh Honna and got a nice style of art.
The plot is mostly how Kido deals with Ikudo spying on him (even forcing him to rent a room in a love hotel to be with his girlfriend).
Some girls are introduced for one/two chapters but they don't take a major role compared to Tatsuhiko, Emiru and Tastu's girlfriend, Yuri.
Also I finished the Enma manga introduced in the first post of the thread. I enjoyed the serie quite a lot.
I'll also mention Pandora Hearts that I'm currently following. And Gurren Lagann manga, which comes from the Anime that I have yet to watch (I watched the intro though, and my hype is at high as a jamaican burning field of pot in a huge cigar)
I'm not wanting to review Gurren Lagann as it's more into an anime thread.
Pandora heart review, maybe, if someone didn't make one already.

As a mortal, he dreamed of a girlfriend. Resurrected as a demon, he desire a harem.
Issei is a student who's life was peaceful until he was killed by the one he believed was his girlfriend.
Resurrected into a demon without knowing it, he live with the impression of missing something until he "meet" Rias, the demon responsible for his resurrection, and defacto, his master.
He then steps into the dark side of the world, governed by Fallen angels, demons and pure angels. And quickly his abilities are put to trial in a universe that has no pity for him.
But he stands still, as he has now the possibility to realize a new dream, creating his own harem.
Oh god that manga.
it's a lot of fanservice, fighting, and some touch of feel.
I have fun reading it.
Rosario + Vampire season one and two

I'm not presenting that, fuck you. This is a story about some guy being sent into a school for monster.
The manga is good, but there is too much to say about it.
The anime is SHIT, especially the season II of it.
Pandora Hearts

This story has a pretty particular setting.
This take place in a country, I don't recall it being named, but it's said to be a monarchy.
Among the peoples in it, four families of noble descent. The Vessalius, the Nightray, the Burma, and the Rainsworth, all of them makes the Four Dukes.
what makes their power is their ability to create a pact with inhabitants of a chaotic dimension called the abyss.
those inhabitants, the chains are varied, going from the cards that are weak fighters, to powerful beings like the Cheschire's Cat.
Only the four dukes and their family members can make a pact with chains. Those who happen to make a pact without being from the four families are known as illegal contractor and are pursued and sent to the abyss.
Also making a illegal pact has a drawback, as the contractor's torso is covered by a mark which is in fact a clock. if the clock makes a complete turn, the contractor is sent to the abyss. Why risking that? to realize a wish whichever it is.
Oz Vessalius, our main character is a young boy who just reached 15 years and must go participate to a ceremony that will make him an adult, but nothing goes as planned when crimson hooded forms infiltrate the ceremony and send Oz into the abyss.
"your crime, is your own existence."
Oz then wander the Abyss and is quickly caught by Alice, a girl suffering from amnesia, who see in him as a way to venture out of the warped dimension.
Alice is in fact a chain known as B-rabbit, the Bloodstained Black Rabbit. And with Oz's pact she has enough power to send them to the real world.
Alice only want two thing from Oz, be her loyal servant, and help her get her memory back.
This begins a story in which are uncovered many secrets, and a fifth family is unveiled, the Baskerville.
Here, I did not spoil much. happy reading.
On other notes: I'm at volume 9 of gurren lagann, the last one should be published in three month if everything goes fine.

For those who liked Pandora Heart here is something to read between two updates.
Crimson Shell, a One shot by the same author.

reviewing would be giving too much infos about the plot so I let you read it peacefully.
It's same style as pandora heart, kinda unique.
Notice that the girl in the cover is restrained by roses vines where Pandora Hearts covers feature chains binding. a little give-away of what you must expect.

Re: Manga anyone? [can contain NSFW]
I've picked up (and dropped) a decent amount of manga between my last post in this thread and now, so here you go:
Aku no Hana

Kasuga Takao is a boy who loves reading books, particularly Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal. A girl at his school, Saeki Nanako, is his muse and his Venus, and he admires her from a distance. One day, he forgets his copy of Les Fleurs du Mal in the classroom and runs back alone to pick it up. In the classroom, he finds not only his book, but Saeki's gym uniform. On a mad impulse, he steals it.
Now everyone knows 'some pervert' stole Saeki's uniform, and Kasuga is dying with shame and guilt. Furthermore, the weird, creepy, and friendless girl of the class, Nakamura, saw him take the uniform. Instead of revealing it was him, she recognizes his kindred deviant spirit and uses her knowledge to take control of his life. Will it be possible for Kasuga to get closer to Saeki, despite Nakamura's meddling and his dark secret? What exactly does Nakamura intend to do with him?
-------------
The World God Only Knows

Katsuragi Keima is known on the net as the god of getting the girls while in real life he’s known as otamegane and he hates all real girls. However he is approached by Elsie, a devil from hell, to help her in catching runaway spirits that hide in people. Apparently the spirits only hide in the hearts of girls and the only way to get the souls out is by making the girl fall in love so the spirit gets forced out. And he’s not allowed to fail or he will lose his head.
-------------
Vagabond

Growing up in 17th century Sengoku era Japan, Shinmen Takezou is shunned by the local villagers as a devil child due to his wild and violent nature. Running away from home with a fellow boy at age 17, Takezou joins the Toyotomi army to fight the Tokugawa clan at the battle of Sekigahara. However, the Tokugawa win a crushing victory, leading to nearly three hundred years of Shogunate rule. Takezou and his friend manage to survive the battle, and afterwards swear to do great things with their lives. But after their paths separate, Takezou becomes a wanted criminal, and must change his name and his nature in order to escape an ignoble death.
-------------
You should also read Akira... because it's Akira. Completely blows the movie away.
-These are all NSFW excluding The World God Only Knows-

Re: Manga anyone? [can contain NSFW]
Time for a rather unliked manga: the one shot Carnage à la tronçonneuse (translates as Chainsaw Carnage though it may not be the same title in english)
rated 6/20 by critics, I rate it 15/20.
japanese title: SAITAMA CHAINSAW SHOUJO

This is the story about a girl and her boyfriend, when she learns the new girl stole her boyfriend she get her heart broken.
When her best friend becomes distant over her she decides to kill her ex-lover and join him to the death.
and thus begins a story about aliens, chainsaw, some crazy chick, and one poor guy that asked nothing.
Peoples didn't like it for most, I'll be honest it was pretty fun.
This is not a manga to be taken seriously, it's like kurukuru fanatic: absurdly over the top which in turn make it funny.
I'll be honest that the lack of body torn into pieces and graphic decapitations may be a turn off. but I'm still fine with it.
The end can disappoint a lot. but I actually told you that this was not to be taken seriously from the start.
Conclusion: I liked it, you might not, try to find some pages of it in the internet before choosing whether or not you'll buy it.
reminder: THIS IS NOT A DRAMA TYPE MANGA, it's more of a horror/fun manga than anything else. Though there is still drama in some piece in it.

Ok I feel pretty in shape (even if my inhards are not dealing well with the chinese food I ate, guess I should change shop for that)
Umishô

this series revolve around two characters and their club, the swimming club.
Oh yeah, you know where this is going: there is mostly girls in this club. (mostly because the vice-president scare the shit out of other men)
Our first character is Kanamé, he is the manager of the club, he helps others to swim... but he can't swim. He got some childhood trauma that prevent him from swimming.
Our second character is Amuro, a new girl from the school that came to highschool... with her house... which is on a small boat... She swims a lot (often naked when peoples are not around) and is one of the best swimmer of the school (even if she looses often for either breaking a rule or hitting the wall of the pool and getting stunned).
There is also other characters but they are too numerous to name all.
I'll just mention: The president who is stupidly joyful, full of himself, a huge fan of Majong (he wanted to create a club) and has some fetish for shaving.
The vice-president who tend to punish a lot, especially the boys (except Kanamé) and Amuro.
Shizuoka who deserve mention, is a girl from a rich family with a thing for kinky clothes (not only clothes to be honest), she tend to get close to Kanamé. She is easily my favourite character of all of them.
There is also one guy that looks like a Goron from the legend of zelda, who is a stalker most of time.
(Pic: from left to right: Amuro and Shizuoka)
commentary on the picture: I love the backside of the manga since it's the same picture seen from behind
My opinion: my first long serie that is finished, and I enjoyed the whole thing. I will surely read it again. Once the october fever is gone.

Re: Manga anyone? [can contain NSFW]
This entry won a prize in my country:
Bride Stories

This serie is about different families in an area that can be considered like the actual Kazakhstan and others lands around.
We follow the life of different couples living in separate villages.
One recurring couple: Amir (Amira depending on translations) and Karluk who forms the very first couple introduced. Karluk is only 12 as of the beginning of the manga and his spouse Amir is already 20. The age gap between them forms already a problem, but Amir's family forms another when they decide to take her back to marry her to another clan because her sister who was married to their chief died due to bad treatments.
other couple is in fact a duo of couples, their arc mostly consisted in the organisation and the ceremony. why is this a duo, because the brides are twins, and the husbands are brothers.
In between we are introduced to Talas, who is the widow of a whole family of brothers. (she married the eldest but he died so the new eldest married her and shit happened like that three time again except there was no fifth brother) The conclusion of her arc is sad in my opinion. I hope we see more of her.
One very good point for this serie is the drawing, this is absolutely beautiful.
The characters are good, the story is good.
I love this serie but there is one major problem: new tomes are only released once in a year in my country.

anyone else did read this?
anyone else did read this?
Re: Manga anyone? [can contain NSFW]
Finished the Blame! serie.

The serie is a SF serie, considered cyberpunk though I have little knowledge of the genre.
it's a dark future where most of humanity disappeared, population is either mutated, adapted to their environment, or lives in a network as virtual entities.
the main character is Killy an agent that quickly reveal to be almost impossible to kill. He travel his way to a world that is only a gigantic structure made by man.
During the whole thing he uses a gun that is powerful enough to blow holes of several kilometer radius, that is overpowered but fun. Apparently the gun is not always so powerful, but I won't bother searching for answers since there is a lot to search.
Our hero meets with a girl whose name is Shibo (or Cibo, depends the language apparently) who is a scientist.
To be honest she is the one that poses a lot of questions over the whole serie. I won't elaborate I might spoil quite a LOT.
the ennemie are beings known as the Silicon monsters, that are sorts of mutated cyborgs or androids gone wrong. I go for cyborg in my case.
And the safeguards that are revealed to be guardians of most of the Blame! world... except they'll kill most thing in front of them.
Overhaul I can't say much more about it. It's mainly open for debate when it concerns the universe.
That serie is my little Holy Grail. It not produced anymore in my country so I had to use internet for my collection. (I still lack the n°9)
The serie ends in 10 tomes.
There is also a small sequel book that is Blame! Gakuen, which consist of ministories, in full color. It also feature a chapter that's very close to the Knight Of Sidonia universe created by the same author.
If someone else has an opinion, feel free to talk about it.
Next review: frankenfran.

Most of my ones seem to be NSFW harems... Wonder why
Onces that have enjoyed the most:
'Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou' (Bit too much fanservice, still entertaining)
'ORETAMA Manga' (I enjoyed quite abit. Pretty funny actually.)
'Girls Saurus DX'
'To Love-Ru & To Love-Ru Darkness' (Dat godly fall.)
'SHINGETSUTAN TSUKIHIME' (I rather enjoyed. Not sure about the hashed up ending though...)
'Elfen Lied' (Personal fave thus far.)
'ROSARIO + VAMPIRE' (Also very good in my opinion.)

Re: Manga anyone? [can contain NSFW]
I said I'd review frankenfran but in the end I decided to not do that.
I just want to introduce Sickness unto death. a manga with english translation.

Why did I decide to review it?
Because it deals about psychological issues.
A young student in psychology starts school in a city while inhabiting a mansion owned by a girl his age suffering from a psychological disease qualified as "despair".
she asks him to help her out of this "despair".
Of course it will not go as it should...
but I'd go too far into spoilers.
Despair is not a real condition but rather a name for her condition that seems rather unique (which is not, when the MC happen to find out what she really has)
the serie end in two volumes. and it might interest those that are waiting for Gloom's next addition to his fanfiction.
The story is nice, the art is awesome.
It can go beyond what is ethically acceptable in psychology. I let you judge.
so yeah, you like romance and mentally ill peoples, this is for you then.
next time: Frankenfran, for real.

Re: Manga anyone? [can contain NSFW]
*AUDIBLE GASP* I was reading this right before I found missing stars way back in the day. I wanted to finish reading it, but the website I was reading it on stopped updating it (obvious why now)
my only real contribution to this forum,Comedies&Tragedies, you should read it sometime(maybe).
Re: Manga anyone? [can contain NSFW]
Yeah, usually when a manga get edition it's retired from scan sites.
And actually for this serie there is only two books, it's not really expensive.
Promised it, now it's on.

Frankenfran
German readers, you don't know how much I envy you.
Because yes, Frankenfran is not edited in English nor French. But it is edited in Germany (also in Italy but it was stopped for no known reasons)
how I discovered it: I'm a fan of 40K and used to go to a 4chan wiki called 1d4chan and this is how I met an article on Frankenfran, I looked up at some scans and immediately liked it.
This is a very unique serie. combining romance, horror, superheroes, slice of life and (dark) humor.
This is a slice of life manga, you can technically start at any books (I'd advise not starting after volume 4 because it's where begin the Sentinel ministories that can be hard to follow if you miss one.)
what makes it interesting is that some chapters are parodies of real life events (the dog that got a statue of him in a train station ring a bell?), parodies of known serie (the Sentinels are the most shining example) or even straight up criticize our way of living.
Chapters 4 for example starts with students asking for plastic surgery for small changes, but it quickly escalate into making peoples look like monsters to the eyes of others, it can be seen as a critic of some people's insane need for changing their body to extreme extend (strangely no duckfaces were seen during that chapter).
Some chapters are less into criticism and focus upon romance (triangle love solved by having the girl cloning herself), character related chapters (the ones of the inspector who I keep forgetting the name and who spends month in psychological therapy each time she bumps into fran), every day life (kinda).
Making a deal with Fran is similar to making a deal with the Devil. you'll mostly get what you want, not necessarily the way you expected though, and the price is extreme.
a good majority of characters don't know a joyfull faith.
A girl from chapter 2 is saved from death by Fran, only to mutate and devour her boyfriend during sex (she later comes back, completely transformed).
One other guy become able to change his body only to discover that pulses makes him unable to control himself, he becomes colder and end up "killing" himself by turning into a brainless creature out of despair.
The sentinels are all serial killers, no need to say anything else.
Some characters avoid this faith, like another girl from chapter 3 that has a unique kind of cancer that provoke development of tons of appendage, limbs and faces on her body, and is cured by Fran after having been cut off from most of her limbs which grew back due to her condition still being present but stabilized.
Or a couple of students from chapter 4, the girl having been victim of rape, doesn't want to be touched by men, the boyfriend decides to ask Fran for a female body instead, what he didn't plan was that his girlfriend heard of that and asked Fran to switch both of their body, so they could have each other's body, and those two lived happy after that, a ray of light compared to the other students?
what does Fran think of that? Nothing. She's almost completely innocent. She acts for the sake of love and science, and doesn't see wrong in what she does.
I did not mention Fran's sisters but I let you find out.
in short, it is grim, is has a dark humor, and it's fucked up, but it's really, really good.
10/10 could be higher if it was edited in english.

No longer an active MS developer; I'm just here for the memes

FMA is really good, but I wouldn't say it's a "must read."Hagon wrote:Fullmetal Alchemist (Uchrony) (I am a criminal for not having done this before)

Dance in the Vampire Bund was really good and Fate/Stay-Night is very good as a VN. I find the anime lacking.
