That Feeling

Post by Zezin »

When I heard about the new writer I thought to myself "You know, I could write." But then I think about how dedicated would I have to be. I know I could write a decent novel if I put my mind to it but it's not really my thing. Yet somehow I always end up with this overwhelming feeling of regret.
This is by far not the first time I've gotten this feeling. I remember the first time I got this I was 3 years-old and I was sad that I didn't get to do the conga-line with the kids on Sesame Street. What? I was three years old!

So throughout my life I always get these "I could have been there." feelings even though I KNOW that it probably wouldn't happen or even if it could happen it wouldn't work out in the end.
Is anyone else plagued with this feeling?

I wouldn't call it plagued... but every once in a while I find myself in similar situations. It's in your best interest not to pay attention to "that feeling" though. You'll miss the next opportunity to be a part of something neat if you spend too much time thinking about the last one.

Well what I was saying was that I wouldn't want to be part of something "neat". Responsibility, taking criticism, and long term dedication. I fall short in all of these.
Yet I convince myself I did want to be part of it.
