I am a healthy 21 year old male and I'm interested in Missing Stars. I want to help the development in anyway I can, but seeing as I cannot draw, write, compose, program, or do really anything useful other than offer my voice.

Don't have a mic or any samples (got a cellphone though). Once I get a job, I'll post some samples (probably just read various parts of Katawa Shoujo's script.) This is by know means a request or application. I just want to throw the idea out there, and ask a question or two.

I strongly doubt that the devs will go through the extra effort of finding VAs - they would need at least seven just to cover the main characters. As writing dialogue and scripting takes a lot of time already, I'd rather see that the time put into scouting VAs, implementing the audio within the game, quality-checking etc. would be used to improve others aspects of the game or that the game is released earlier.

What you can do right now is to tell people about the game and keep the community active, I suppose.

We did screw around with the idea of having live voice though - but due to the setting being in Austria, the languages might be of native options (that is, German or French). Our audiofriend is a German.

The question is still up in the air but don't put your hopes up.

Voicing Missing Stars isn't a bad idea, but I would prefer it to be not voiced than to be voiced shitty, and let's face the truth - how much decently dubbed animes have you watched and eroges played? Myself - none. I can't even think about watching dubbed animes now, horrific.

There are a few - Cromartie High and Cowboy bebop for instance - but they are rare. Hilariously bad seems to be the norm. It's a good thing they're optional in eroges.

Like I said - still up in the air. Quality is an issue but since our audiofriend is ACTUALLY a professional sound engineer and can guarantee good results.

Ah well, you'll see it at the end product anyways. No use speculating at the moment.

Honestly, I'd prefer it if there was no voice acting, or of there was, an option to turn it off. I've always found voice acting very distracting in visual novels, but that's just me really.

As the aforementioned audio friend, I have to say I am currently not planning to include voice acting. This is of course not set in stone, but it is really hard to find good voice actors who do their stuff for free (and not even I can make a bad voice actor sound good), and the file volume of the game would explode with that many voice lines included. I'd rather set the tone of the scene by the soundtrack itself.

Personally, voice acting can go either. It adds to the emotions, as you know whether the person is yelling or not in the scene, but it depends on the visual novel too. It worked for Kanon, but I'm not too sure if it would have worked with Katawa.

Yeah I see how bad voice acting would ruin everything, and you would definitely want a disable feature. You also could implement that simple kind of voice acting where it's just a name or a few simple lines that are said at the beginning of dialogue like in some rpgs although that might ruin the experience as well.

Judging from how well Katawa Shoujo went I'm sure there are tons of people who would want to lend their voices but I can see how sorting through them all would be a problem. We should make a poll to see if voice acting is something people would want while MS is still early on in it's development and because it's basically an added on extra feature and not necessary, if things weren't working well you could just drop it. Although if it went well it could make the overall experience of the game even better. Perhaps you could add it to a demo and judge reactions from that. As for languages that could be a problem. Edit: The awkwardness of having to do the same scene multiple times to get the voices just right. Suddenly the idea of voices doesn't seem as appealing. Yet at the same time the awkwardness of recording such a scene and the awkwardness of the situation between what I'm assuming to be two virgin lovers seems like such a perfect match that I can't help but chuckle.
