This reminds me of a puzzle...
Hey kids! How about an old-fashioned puzzle thread?
The game is simple: Solve my riddles/puzzles/brain teasers, and you gain a modicum of Internet Superiority (TM).
Or maybe you'll get something else instead...like Picarats.
So, without further ado, let's start! Post your answers in the thread, and I'll let you know if you're correct, incorrect, or completely off the mark. The first one to answer correctly gets all the glory, so think fast!
Puzzle #7: "Hat Simulator"
There are 3 children sitting on three chairs. The children can only look forward and all wear one hat. The hats are either black or red. They are a total of 5 hats, 3 are colored red and 2 are colored black. The child on chair A says: "I don't know what color of the hat I have." Then the child on chair B says: "Also, I don't know the color of my hat." Then the child on chair C says: "In that case, I know the color of my hat."
The question is: What color of hat does the child on chair C have and why?
Bonus question: Do we also know the color of the hat of the child on chair A and the color of the hat on chair B?

...Eight?
Re: This reminds me of a puzzle...
Damn... I thought it was pretty clever. 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 :^(
I'll only try once per puzzle.

Nine? I have in mind some method whereby the number '8' can be graphically written as a series of 2s on top of each other. Not at all convinced that this is close to being correct though.

I was about to answer the same thing. Can't really come up with anything else. ):ILY wrote:Damn... I thought it was pretty clever. 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 :^(

Re: This reminds me of a puzzle...
Guys, you're thinking too hard. Simplify things. There's nothing too complex about this puzzle. Here's a hint:
If you guys know that a combination of twos make 8 (that is, 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8), does that help?
If you guys know that a combination of twos make 8 (that is, 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8), does that help?
Re: This reminds me of a puzzle...
No, that knowledge is what lead me to my original answer, which is 8.Hamadyne wrote:If you guys know that a combination of twos make 8 (that is, 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8), does that help?
Oh wait. SEVEN.
IT'S SEVEEEN!!1

...But there's a much smaller amount of twos you can use to make "three eights". It's free to answer for anyone, now that the initial puzzle has been solved. Be creative!

I think I know. Can I answer, or should I leave it to someone else? :3Hamadyne wrote:Woo! You got it!sky wrote:No, that knowledge is what lead me to my original answer, which is 8.Hamadyne wrote:If you guys know that a combination of twos make 8 (that is, 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8), does that help?

Nice work! This is what I consider to be the "best" answer. Congratulations!sky wrote:Three?

I'll be getting another puzzle ready, so keep your eyes peeled, folks! I'll be updating the original post I made, and I'll be bumping the thread when it happens.
