Musings in MMORPGs

Post by TheCynic »

So i was going over some stuff recently, when memories of when i used to play runescape came flooding.

Has anyone else played Runescape? Or any MMORPGs for that matter?

I miss those hours spent on slaughtering lesser demons :P

Even though Runsecape was my first, the only MMORPGs that I played for more than 3 hours were Guild Wars (one) and Vindictus. Everything else I played felt very tedious and had lackluster combat.
I'll probably play Guild Wars 2 as well some day.

Been playing MMO types since they first came out many many years ago, mid 1990's on dialup, used to frequent MUD's on dial-up.

Was once a hardcore WoW player, but left that game when Blizzard decided to drop the ball on the quality of the game and dumbing it down to the point where it is not even fun anymore.

Currently active in Final Fantasy Xi and currently looking at Final Fantasy XIV but not holding my breath on the relaunch of that game.

I've been playing Guild Wars 2 lately. I like it, it's fun enough. No monthly sub fee, which is nice.

I played Runescape years ago when the cool kids played it.

Then I played WoW before Burning Crusade, then stopped during Lich King. Then I played Star Wars The Old Republic with high hopes that this was gonna be the best thing ever. Then It got boring and repetitive real quick, so people started jumping off the TORtanic.

And just recently I have started to play WoW again. (I'm surprised how easy this game got years ago before the patches.)

MMORPG's aren't usually my thing. I prefer single player games usually, but MMORPGs I do like are pretty much games like Vindictus where you can solo the dungeons and be a loner.

Currently, though, I'm playing quite a bit of Rusty Hearts, which is like Vindictus but with more anime in it. :P

It's a hacky-slashy action based combat kinda game. At it's very core, I wouldn't even call it an mmo. That part comes in with the hub areas.

I don't play Vindictus anymore, unfortunately, since my PC can't run it due to having a bad graphics card or something, and my laptop plays it with an FPS of 7. That would be fine on a conventional MMORPG, but not on a hack 'n' slash MMORPG like Vindictus.

As I said, though, if you like Vindictus, you'd probably like Rusty Hearts. Which I can actually play, too. :P

My characters name is Deadai. (It's a pun. It sounds like Dead-eye and I am playing as the girl with the revolvers and IT SOUNDED CLEVER AT THE TIME SHADDUP)

I'll friend you whence I get on.

Played it when I was 8.
Wasted a month of my life that I could have been doing just about anything else.

For some reason I all ways stop playing RPGs once I hit the lvl 20s, MMO or otherwise. I wonder why that is?
