Holm sisters

And even that is not the worst of their problems.

The worst is that «Natasha» is no more than a diminutive form of «Natalya» (you may confirm it in English Wikipedia article «Diminutive», subsection «Russian»).

And that's why calling one of the twin sisters «Natalya» and the other «Natasha» is on the same level as if one sister was «Shizune» and the other «Shicchan».

Giving such names to the twins would require a certain level of insanity… and I mean not only their parent(s), but birth registration people as well.

I believe that devs should have done their homework better. It's the 21st century and we all have Internet. Sure there's a plenty of different actual Russian names around, both first names and family names. You just have to choose one that is not in top 10 most frequent and also not unknown or weird; the family name also must not be a rare one and at the same time well-known as of some writer's, musician's of politician's.

However, EvilDragon is absolutely right about their surname.

The only person with surname «Holm» («Холм» in Russian) known to Russian Wikipedia is, as you may have already guessed, Sir Ian Holm (starring as Bilbo Baggins in «The Lord of the Rings»).

This is not a Russian surname.

Well yeah, Natasha and Natalya is the same name, I asked my parents and they said that too, but maybe their mother isn't russian, eh? English or German, maybe, then the surname fits.

But yeah, the naming is a blunder. When I asked my mother if naming twins Natasha and Natalya would be weird, she said "Yes, definetely". :D

(shrugs) Mistakes are made. Shit happens. If the developers want to change it, they will. They tried, that's what matters. I'm sure they've researched enough to know what they were actually calling the girls. I'm sure that if they think they made a mistake they didn't mean to, they'll change it.

Regarding the names, neither are mistakes. It's deliberate. And Wyges is indeed right, their mother is not Russian.

I thought so that such naming was intended. Devs here are not so stupid. :D

But in real life such naming would be really weird. Imagine twins named John and John.

John and Johnny, might be a little more apt.

 I KNEW it! It just HAD to be the case...there was simply TOO much thought put in thus far for the choice to have been accidental. Guess that answers that. :D

I think we can all agree that the Devs here are pretty capable, and that anything we may think of as "strange" or "weird" is more than likely something done to be intentionally provocative. Perhaps not quite to the extent of the "Success/Failure" naming that one set of parents did, but certainly enough to elicit responses such as we've seen here ;) in fact, I like to think that I can trust them with most things, like my physical safety, bank account number, and DNA sequence.

Well Malkav, we probably wont notice when the devs have gruesomely murdered you behind the bushes closest to your house and then one of them gets the task to impersonate you...

If that was a mistake, that would be weird. If that is intentional (and with an intent so strong), then there must be some really creepy reason behind this naming — for the devs that name must mean specific something. Or someone.

I know only of one Russian person with name Natalya and surname staring with Holm: that's Natalya Holmogorova, the head of the human rights division of Русское Общественное Движение, according to their website. (According to Традиция wiki, she is РОД's executive director since 2005.) I am starting to suspect that one of the devs in Somnova Studios may have a (perverted) secret crush on her and is going to have a really creepy indirect sex with her by making a twin eroge star named after her. Natalya Holmogorova does even have a blog with username nataly_hill (where the English word hill translates to Russian holm exactly) on LiveJournal since 2003, and she uses the same pun for her Formspring account, so in the sense of that pun she is Natalya Holm.

Or maybe there's no secret crush, but rather a political issue. Some opponents of Русское Общественное Движение may have influenced Somnova Studios to specifically target РОД's executive director, to make her mentally gangbanged by most of the Missing Stars's audience.

Either way, this seems sick. I don't know why exactly you are going to do that to her, but this is very wrong on many levels.

Oh come on Worthington, he deserves at least 3.5/10 for all the research he did.

There IS no spoon? But then how shall we ever consume our cereal? And how else can we explain the twins' penchant for cooking, or Katja's missing eye?
