Where is everyone?
So I gotta ask. It's been months since time unmemorable, probably since early last year, I've pretty much seen 3-4 actual dev members even posting here anymore.
Now, I've seen the latest news blog, so I know that evidently you all are having...interesting concerns. But seriously, the chat channel is dead every time I've gone there (the rizon one), news is posted by 2 or 3 people, and none of the team even exists on the face of this site.
Maybe I'm just a little anxious about following this project for years, and finding out your biggest competition has ceased any updates on any mediums since august of 2014, to the tune of "we're never giving up on this". It seems they have.
So what's the deal? Who's alive and who's died? I mean...what's happened? Beyond do or die statements?
Not nice to see so much stuff I've followed for years dying left and right. 3 youtubers, webcomics dead-ended, yadda yadda. I'm hoping somnova doesn't pull the same.

Re: Where is everyone?
Point 1: We no longer use IRC for actual team development, so that means very few, if any of us are on the public channel either. Time zone discrepancies were causing IRC meetings to be unproductive and/or forcing our eastern European members to be up at 2:00 AM on weekdays. That wasn't acceptable, so we stopped doing those.
Point 2: Every blog post is reviewed by the team, but Raithfyre happens to be the person who posts them publicly. For a while, I was the chosen arbiter for blog posting, as was alabaster. It mostly comes down to who volunteers to write the blog posts, and recently that has been Raithfyre. There aren't just three people working, there just happen to be three people who like posting publicly.
Point 3: I mostly use this forum for developer work, and have let the public section creep up with unread alerts. In fact, I only knew this thread existed because someone else on the team keeps better track of general discussion. This one is completely on me, so I will be clearing unread alerts so I can keep better track of what's happening here so I can respond to community posts.
This is all just me personally, but I'm pretty sure a lot of the development team is the same way.

Re: Where is everyone?
I can confirm pretty much the same stuff kev already has. Development is pretty much done via Skype now, as everyone can see previous messages.
I try to keep an eye on general discussion, so don't worry - I'm watching you.

Re: Where is everyone?
Additionally, it's probably worth noting that a lot of us have less free time than we did before. So while we still do development stuff, there's less messing around on the forums or IRC or whatever. That said, it is kinda sad that the channel is so dead. We've lost a couple of our regulars to dead computers, real lives, and other such inconveniences. It'll probably pick back up closer to demo, but who knows. A degree of patience is required, though - if you say something in there, it'll usually be responded to. Eventually.

Re: Where is everyone?
Well, at least someone responded. Surprisingly fast, though given what I've been insinuating, it's not terribly surprising.
I happen to live right now in Korea, if you'll believe it, so people not being on even the irc says a fair amount.
I get it, I do, life is life. I'm less active in things than I used to be, which makes me that much more concerned in what I've kept following.
Eventually nothing, I've left IRC up for hours and not a peep.
I'm not trying to bust people's chops, or nothing. Honestly, I'm just concerned. I actually know some people on your staff, and I haven't seen them since forever. Whatever.
Skype would make sense. EVERYONE does it now. Might get my own again. Who knows.
Knew it. You three are the talking faces for the project now.

Sad to hear that IRC is dead. I'm sure it will pick up after the demo is released this year.

Re: Where is everyone?
It's always sad to hear that project have been abandoned out of necessity. It's happened to quite a few other projects I've been half following, but this has really been the only one to capture my full attention.
If it comes to it in the end, I'll understand if this gets dropped. It'd be a sad day indeed though

Things are going well, though maybe I'm a bit biased in saying that. Confident in that demo deadline though. As always, come say hi in IRC if you're so inclined.

Re: Where is everyone?
It happens that I did, although the quote isn't from there. It's from Lovecraft himself, who wrote it nearly a century before Cthulhutech.jarek56 wrote:You played Cthulhutech too?Gloom wrote:That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons, even death may die.

Re: Where is everyone?
Shall we be seeing any Lovecraftian themes in Katja's story? Now that would be innovative VN narration.
