I went with 5 Centimeters Per Second. I wanted it to be something she'd NEVER encountered before, and I found lots of good reviews of it. TvTropes, my GO TO people for spoiling something ahead of time, was quite positive in its portrayal of it. I understand that TvTropes isn't a review service, but it's a useful tool for telling whether or not I'll throw something out the door in disgust. Plus, it looked good, and not...like the usual level of anime. You know...
Now, make no mistake,
I have a HUGE catgirl fetish appreciate a decent piece of fanservice as much as the next guy, but...my 18 year old sister likes anime with deep, emotional meaning that transcends cultural boundaries without necessarily doing away with them. Thus, Studio Ghibli and Mushi-shi, which are relaxing, universally-acceptable sources of emotion and story. She LOVES rich, masterfully crafted animation, thus, while the
fucking sexy attractive cat girl would please me, she would...throw it out for the cheap trash that she thinks it is.
