A very short piece, but one I thought might be worth posting. My characterization is probably completely off, but that's when happens when your favorite girl is a side-character posted for April Fools. Since Renée is basically just a combination of all the other heroines, I added a love of fairy tales to give her a trait unique just to her. I also tried to make it clear that she's definitely a bit off (specifically, hinting at antisocial personality disorder and dissociative identity disorder, though I have no clue what her actual disorder is), but I'm not sure whether I was too subtle or too obvious. Warning: dangerously purple writing. The final line translates to "Help! Help! The monster inside me is about to explode."
-------
Small, slender hands smoothed the vibrant dye through sleek strands hair, still perfumed from the bath. Envy green, the packaging read, quite a suitable name―rather than grass green, or spring green, or other such flowery descriptions printed to attract young ladies looking for a dash of defiance in their day-to-day look. A vibrant color, always spoken ill of: always used to describe monsters, of some sort. In fairy tales, it was the poison apple dyed green, the green serpent meant to trick the princess, and the plain eggs which held jewels and riches, while the decorated ones, adorned with precious rubies and emeralds, held beasts of nightmares: wolves and wasps, intent to devour greedy thieves. Renée, however, adored green, taking hours at a time to savor the lush vegetation of the woods and tracing the path of stars, often retreating to her computer when night fell, navigating through digital forests, adventuring even when she didn't have to take a step. Her ears firmly covered with headphones, she could indulge in birdsongs as much as she liked, humming bars of a tune beneath her breath for days on end. She had always considered green to be a marvelous color; underappreciated, and uncommon. Green with greed, green with jealousy, a green monster, lurking in forests―why were those things considered so awful, when they looked so lovely?
From its cage, her parrot sang in an echo of her own voice, soft and smooth; although she had already fed it a handful of seed already, it had grown impatient again. Toweling off her hair, dabbing at her damp skin, she examined her reflection, pleased with the vibrancy of the dye against her narrow face and brown eyes.
Her beloved pet cried out again; not a song, but words of its owner―Hilfe! Hilfe! Das Monstrum im mir wird explodieren!―and she turned away, a smile curling at the corners of her lips.

Re: Untitled
Renée fiction? I'm cool with this.
I won't (or rather, cannot currently) say what she has, but you are more than welcome to speculate. Though, you may have to read between the lines, and look further than just her bio.

And now she's Johann Liebert as well?―Hilfe! Hilfe! Das Monstrum im mir wird explodieren!
Short, but nice. I'd like to see more.

This implies she's a real character, even though she was introduces on April Fools day! Oh the Paradoxes. The sneaky, hard to tell between Paradoxes!Smokey wrote:Renée fiction? I'm cool with this.

Before I realized that it was April Fool's, I assumed she was the kind of person (I don't remember exactly what it's called) to take on the personality of those around her. Like, she incorperates aspects of people she interacts with. That would be pretty interesting, because the more you get to know her, the more it'll be like you're hanging out with yourself. Until she can develop her own personality (if possible).Waytfm wrote:She could be a figment of somebody else's imagination.

Re: Untitled
That sounds pretty good. I never would have thought of that. Pity she is an April Fool joke. I still think she'll be in the game somehow, just not as anything close to a main character. Saying that, you never know; Smokey had her as an avatar for a while before she was announced, so she may have more relevance than we think.notop wrote:Before I realized that it was April Fool's, I assumed she was the kind of person (I don't remember exactly what it's called) to take on the personality of those around her. In all seriousness, I found it to be a good read, very fitting for a time like this when I can't be arsed with longer texts.
